This exciting new addition to my range of pipes is based on a fine 16th Century carving recently sighted in a church in the village of Marwood in North Devon by James Merryweather of The York Waites, who is currently researching pictorial representations of double pipes in England. |

The combination of two conical chanters and a single drone provides a spectacular effect. The chanter configurations are similar to that of the parallel-bored Cornish pipes but the sound is quite different. The conical bores on these chanters offer new possibilities of several semi-tones can be played by cross-fingering. These are challenging pipes are are already generating a lot of interest.
