THE LOWLAND AND BORDERS PIPERS' SOCIETY

This is the society for all types of Scottish bellows blown pipes and smallpipes. Members are involved in the revival of a distinctive Border piping tradition with its own instruments, techniques and repertoire, sharing some gracing technique with Highland tradition and some sprightly tune types with the weekends. Publishes a regular newsletter and the journal "Common Stock". Publishing an extensive manual and CD-Rom for Scottish bellows bagpipes later this year. More information at their website.

THE BAGPIPE SOCIETY

Others are concentrating on traditions from other parts of Britain, the different countries of Europe and beyond. Annual "Blow Out" weekend event, concerts etc. Circulates a lively Newsletter / Diary of bagpipe events and news and a journal, "Chanter". Again, more info at their website.
